The ocarina: here
A sheet music book for starters: Zelda Song Book
Eventual add-ons: necklace ocarina and theory book
The ultimate dream: Clay Tenor Ocarina

I want to get back into music so incredibly badly and I've always wanted to learn to play an ocarina. These two things are combining into one in this task, and I hope to eventually have a decent sound clip of myself playing the ocarina that I can post here proudly. I'm very excited for this goal; although it will be a gradual process, the choice of the C major tenor ocarina should give me a bit of an edge, as that is also the key a flute is played in. Pictures of the ocarinas as I purchase them and song clips will be posted here as they come.

Edit 4/14/11 @ 11:30am: Put in the order for the ocarina. While browsing the site this morning to place the order, I found that they had recently put up a deal package, here. I ended up purchasing this one instead because it ended up being cheaper than buying the ocarina and the song book individually. It should hopefully arrive in a few days. I'm excited!

Edit 4/18/11 @ 9:53pm: Got the ocarina today! It's been great fun playing it and I've already been able to play a few of the shorter songs from the Zelda song book, most notably Requiem of Spirit, which seems to be the one I'm best at so far. It's quite quick to get the hang of, it seems, and my previous experience playing a flute has definitely put me at a huge advantage since concepts such as tone, articulation, and reading the music are old hat to me. I hope to practice at least several times a week - once I can play every song in the Zelda songbook, I'll purchase another song book, and do the same with that.
